White Water Rafting Weekend Trip | April 29-May 1

We will be departing on Friday April 29th at 5:00 PM to give students enough time to be dismissed from class and meet at ODR bldg, 228. We will make a food stop en-route to give everyone the opportunity to have a quick bite about 6:30 PM. We will be arriving to base camp after dusk so flashlight/ headlamp will be mandatory. These are available for purchase at ODR and are a great investment to keep with you on future trips. All customers are required to participate in setting up tents, and base camp. All equipment including tents, sleeping bags, bed rolls, camps stove, etc. will be provided by ODR at no additional cost.

Saturday morning will be a cold breakfast and hot coffee with orientation and safety talk beginning at 10:00 AM. We will raft approximately ten miles of the middle fork of the Kings River in class 1-3 rapids. This means you should expect to get wet. Rafting requires active participation to guide the raft, and work as a team to overcome obstacles and navigate the river. There are no tracks, no seat belts, and the raft is entirely under the guidance of a certified KRE raft guide and participants (you). All participants and guide will be outfitted with PFD (personal flotation device). ODR and KRE will accept no liability for lost or broken/ submersed personal possessions. A hot lunch and dinner will be served, and guests are welcome to bring any special food/ beverages and dietary needs they might wish to have.

Coffee will be served Sunday morning as we break down camp and depart for POM. A food break will be made en-route and we expect to be back to Presidio by about 2:30 PM giving students and faculty plenty of time to prepare for the coming work week.
